Hox-gene inspired developmental switching. Click an offspring to select it as parent.
How it works: Each organism has two gene-groups — trunk (blue) and bud (orange) — plus a budTrigger gene. When the recursive branching reaches the trigger depth, it switches from trunk genes to bud genes for all remaining sub-branches. This is analogous to how Hox genes activate different developmental programs at different positions along the body axis. When budTrigger = 0, buds are inactive and you get a classic Dawkins biomorph.
